An invitation to compete for over $3,000,000 in scholarships and prizes (including 2004 Pontiac Vibe’s for each of the winning two competitors) at the National Automotive Technology Competition at the New York International Auto Show
Competition:
Teams of 2 students (1 team per school system) will rotate through 5 different stations and complete
job sheets composed of the following areas:
2. Starter, battery, alternator testing (VAT 40 or VAT 45)
3. On Board diagnostics (Tech II or Snap-on Scanner) (Troubleshooting Vehicle: 2004 Audi A4 1.8T
(A proprietary factory diagnostic scanner may be also available for use…that will be confirmed to all by Feb 24th)
5. ASE Test (prepared by WANADA)
Time:
Students will be introduced to the program at 10:00am. Judges and rules will be reviewed. The station rotations will begin at 10:30am. Each rotation will be held for 20 minutes in the assigned area. Students will be given 5 minutes to rotate while judges complete the scoring.
Scoring:
Each judge will use a point system and students will be rated at each station. At the completion of the competition, the students with the greatest number of points will be declared the winner. The student teams with lower scores will be ranked appropriately in descending order from greatest number of points down to the lowest. If there are a two teams that score the same score the VICA general quiz questions will be used as a means to declare a winner.
Dress:
Students will be required to wear their lab uniforms and only students wearing closed toe shoes will be permitted in the competition area. SAFETY glasses MUST be worn at all times while in the automotive laboratory.
